MediaXchange Announces The CoProLab – A TV Drama Development Initiative,
With Production Partners Across Europe And Support From Creative Artists Agency
MediaXchange rounds out our 20th birthday celebration with the announcement of The CoProLab, a drama development initiative with TV production partners in Germany, Scandinavia, Italy, and Belgium, and support from the world’s leading entertainment and sports agency, Creative Artists Agency (CAA.)
European partners working within The CoProLab network will team-up with select U.S. Showrunners to expand TV drama development in their home market and create an original drama series in the English language for the international market. By establishing a strong, collaborative foundation for the production of long-running episodic TV drama, the CoProLab intends to underpin the conception, development, and production of each series, which will be comprised of truly global elements from a story’s world, to the characters in the show, and the team creating it.
“With MediaXchange’s focus on the translation of the creative process and our association with writing and development talent, there couldn’t be a better time to concentrate on bringing partners together to move forward and collaborate on projects.” says Katrina Wood, CEO of MediaXchange, who looks forward to announcing early in 2012 more details of the European partners and U.S. Showrunners who will be involved. “We appreciate the interest shown in the extended, international collaborative process by U.S. Showrunners and by CAA, which is such a strong force in the creative community.”
The rationale for The CoProLab is underscored by the desirability of finding the best way to coproduce TV Drama projects with the efficiency of longer running series and their potential value in the marketplace.
Current and potential CoProLab partners are mid-size independent European production companies that specialize in high-quality television drama, and are looking to expand drama development prospects and international reach.
