Resonant TV and MediaXchange
Launch New Joint Venture:
INSIGHT

(March 2010) (Los Angeles, CA)—With the necessity for international development and global distribution for shows in today’s entertainment industry, TV development and distribution experts Resonant TV and media specialists MediaXchange are partnering to present a joint venture: INSIGHT, giving international television writers/producers access to their US counterparts and exposure to the much celebrated US creative process.

Resonant TV’s CEO Gonzalo Cilley and the international media consultancy MediaXchange, headed by twenty-year veteran CEO Katrina Wood, are working together to provide TV clients with a unique route to gaining experience in how US series are developed and written. Their common goal is to help apply the best development and writing practices to the creation of fiction programs generated locally in different territories. Shows will be developed domestically but with a view to the international market.

Over recent years, the television world has seen a need for connectivity to the international marketplace; however, although producers from all over the globe recognize this reality, often the lack of sustainability and success of their own projects is the concern. It is no secret that US series are the most watched television shows in the world, and American writers probably the most experienced in their trade. This is a unique opportunity to enhance the creative process and the results.

As the entertainment industry has come to acknowledge, however, nobody knows from where the next great show may come. Acting on this premise, Resonant is working with TV writers in Europe and Latin America searching for stories with global potential. Devoted to developing scripted series that can transfer to several territories, Resonant looks for uniquely local ways of storytelling but the themes and conflicts are universal.

Since they have had the chance to perfect their trade in what probably is the most competitive TV market of the world, US creatives have acquired a writing experience that their fellow writers in other countries have often envied. MediaXchange has come on board in the process to provide access for companies to an esteemed advisory board of their US industry counterparts. This advisory board is made up of television creatives—showrunners, writer/producers and development executives—who can help provide structure and process to local development as well as a knowledge-base that will supply the foundation for a sustainable and repeatable format to thrive in other markets.

The Advisory Board members have an unparalleled range of experience with their combination of show credits, pilot and show development at TV channels and collaboration on international co-production and adaptations. Board members include: Jeff Greenstein (Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives), James Duff (The Closer), Jeff Melvoin (Alias, Army Wives), Naren Shankar (CSI), Bob Cochran (24, La Femme Nikita), David Zucker (The Pillars of the Earth, The Good Wife, Scott Free Productions), Carol Flint (ER, West Wing, Royal Pains), Steve Stark (Medium, The Game, Facing Kate), Javier Grillo (Lost, The Middleman).

Several projects are already in the works and will be announced over the next few months. For more information, visit the websites of both Resonant TV, www.resonant.tv, and MediaXchange, www.mediaxchange.com.
